Do you want to preserve the vivid colours of your favourite photograph which you have just printed in canvas? Then you need to take heed of a few guidelines. First, do not place your canvas print in an area where it gets exposed to direct sunlight. Printers claim that the inks in the print will last forever but this is far from the truth. Even the best inks cannot stand a constant beating of heat and light.
In addition, do not place your canvas print on or over areas that radiate extreme heat. Thus, do not place near or above fireplaces, ovens, radiators, and other fixtures or appliances that generate heat. If you plan to shine a spotlight on your print, make sure that the illumination is not hot enough to fade the inks.
Another factor to consider is moisture. Both the substrate and the wood are vulnerable to moisture, which can damage them. Thus, you need to place the print in a cool, dry place. Finally, you should regularly get rid of dust that accumulates on your canvas print. The radiance of the image will be diminished if the piece is not dusted regularly.
